Alt-D to delete word doesn’t work either.

I do a lot of command like editing using default emacs key bindings.

I live and breathe inside GNU Screen sessions and have mapped function keys to jump between windows.

Alt-W to paste, will kill the terminal without warning again.

If you are using emacs inside the terminal instead of carbon emacs because you have SSHed into a remote machine – Alt-Q to fill-paragraph will kill the Terminal app mercilessly without a warning dialog.

So, it becomes really painful to use this as Meta, when I am used to use the ‘Alt’ key as Meta. I use a Goldtouch split ergonomic windows keyboard and I have mapped the “windows key” to the Alt through a Keyboard Mapping utility. There are ways around this – you could make alt key behave like Meta.

Alt key is not Meta and ESC key is the only Meta key by default.

page up/down keys inside emacs in Terminal.app, will work on the external Terminal buffer instead of the emacs buffers inside the terminal.Terminal.app was woefully quirky and doesn’t have any fidelity to the good old xterm I am so used to on *nix systems. Unfortunately, using a terminal in Leopard hasn’t been a very pleasant experience for me.
